| LANGTANG, GOSAIKUND AND HELAMBU CIRCUIT TREK |

November 5-21, 2009
Join us on another Samsara Journeys trek. With successful treks to the Annapurnas and most recently to Kala Patthar above Everest Base Camp, we have been working hard to find just the right trek for November, 2009. A visit to Langtang offers us the change to explore villages, climb small peaks and visit glaciers at a comfortable elevation. By combining Langtang, Gosainkund and Helambu, we are afforded the opportunity to get right in among the Himalayan peaks on this circuit. We will see almost the whole Himalayan mountain range from the Annapurnas in the west and Makalu in the east and Shishapangma, the only one of the world’s 14 eight-thousand meter peaks which lies entirely within Tibet. The trails are nowhere as busy as the Annapurnas and Everest yet we will be provided a wonderful insight into the rural mountain lifestyles of upland Nepal and the cultural contrasts of Buddhist and Hindu villages. Langur monkeys and countless bird species will entertain us as we trek through Nepal’s conifer forests, cultivated terraced fields, the grassy open areas of the Langtang Valley and the glaciers above Kyanjin Gompa. As on our past treks, our wonderful camping staff headed by Shyam will take care of our every need. Post monsoon season should offer us clear weather for the fabulous views.

ABOUT MARIAN LEIGHTON
Marian Leighton has been an expatriate from Canada for most of the past two decades. She and her New Zealand husband and their young children spent two years in the 80's in Sumatra, Indonesia. They returned to Canada for two years but the lure of overseas life soon took them to the Middle East. She lived with her family for the past 17 years in Saudi Arabia and only very recently returned home to Canada. Over the last twenty years she travelled extensively with her family but since 2000 has been leading tours to Turkey, Kenya and the Himalayas. She led cultural tours throughout Turkey as well as sailing holidays on the family's catamaran out of Bodrum, Turkey. Since 2004 Marian has worked with Razzu Tuladhar of Samsara Journeys in Kathmandu, Nepal as a tour leader in the Himalayas, primarily for clients from the Middle East, although clients have travelled from as far away as New Zealand, the US, Canada and the UK. Marian leads tours both in Nepal and to Bhutan, Sikkim and Tibet. In the spring of 2007 she took a group of 14 Canadians on a 16 day tour which included a trek in the Annapurnas combined with visits to Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as a 3 night/4 day jungle safari package in the Chitwan National Park. In the fall of 2008 Marian led another successful trek, this time to Kala Patthar above Everest Base Camp. Her exciting tours to Tibet involve flying to Lhasa and travelling overland back to Kathmandu. Tours to Bhutan and Sikkim have been equally successful. Although Marian has returned to Canada she plans to continue to offer tours and treks to the Himalayas. Delighted with the attention to detail that Samsara Journeys provides, many travelers have done repeat tours with Marian and her team.
